Municipal Court - 
Citations, Fees, & Payments

Municipal Court is held the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 5:30 PM at the Ansted Council Chambers/Police Department building located at 104 Cemetery St, Ansted, WV 25812.

Common APD Citation Amounts

For all other violation charges, or to set up a court date to dispute charges, please call 304-658-5106 within 10 DAYS of the citation.

  • No or Expired MVI Violation: $114

  • No or Expired Operators: $164

  • No or Expired Registration: $164

  • No Proof Registration: $139

  • Seatbelt Violation (per adult): $25

  • No Proof Insurance: $287

  • Handheld Device while Driving (1st offense): $100

  • Speeding Violation: $187

  • No Insurance Violation: $487

  • Defective Equipment Violation: $139

  • Driving Suspended or Revoked: $337

  • Simple Possession: $337

Citation payments are due within 90 days of the citation date. You may make partial payments so long as the balance is paid in full within 90 days. If you need more than 90 days, an income-based payment plan can be arranged by filling out a financial affidavit, having it notarized and returned to our office within 90 days. The cost for filing the financial affidavit and requesting a payment plan is $25.

Payments can be made in person at our office, by mail, by phone, or online. Certified checks, cash, money orders, and personal checks are accepted. Any check returned for insufficient funds must be redeemed in cash and will be subject to a $10 processing fee. If paying by mail or in the office, please mark your plea on the back of the citation, sign and return it with your payment.  Online payments may be made through our secure payment portal (fees apply) via credit/debit cards or electronic check.

Paying your citation via phone or online is an admission of guilt and points will be assessed on your driver’s license accordingly.
